Fat Roland is a short story writer, blogger, podcaster and performer who mixes loose narrative with “superb audience interaction” and “excellent improvisation” (Broadway Baby). He is the current champion of Literary Death Match Manchester and he co-runs Bad Language (voted the UK’s best spoken word night two years in a row just to annoy its previous co-organiser Dan Carpenter. Whatever happened to Dan Carpenter? Guess we’ll never know.) When Fats is not appearing in anthologies such as Word Life and A Box Of Stars Underneath The Bed, he’s waggling cartoons of pandas at the likes of the Royal Exchange, Transition Festival and FC United. As the poster said for his second Edinburgh Fringe show in 2016: “Imagine Johnny Vegas devouring Sam Simmons… on a rollercoaster…. driven by a depressed buffalo.” True dat.
